Successes to date
The Active Bristol programme has already commissioned some key pieces of work which are detailed in the project area below.
In addition, there has been some influential work on policy and strategy including:
- 2 large area pilot 20mph speed limit areas (Active Bristol goal of residential 20mph speed limit.
- Successful application with UWE and Bristol City for a 9 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership post examining Road Danger Reduction approaches in transport (reducing danger at source) as opposed to casualty reduction.
- Commenced public health input into Joint Local Transport Plan 3 (2011-2026)
- Support for Cycling City - drafting and presentation of public health vision for cycling 2010-2020 (support Active Bristol ambition for increase population physical activity)
- Ongoing embedding of evidenced based public policy ethos in transport department
- Essential Evidence on a Page issued to over 600 individuals in BCC and beyond www.bristol.gov.uk/tpevidencebase with links on regional and national transport and health organisation websites
