Avonmouth and Kingsweston

The Avonmouth and Kingsweston Neighbourhood Partnership was launched in January 2008. The steering group is made up of councillors, service providers and residents from each of the four distinct communities in the area.

Priorities identified at the Joint Open Workshop in November 2010 are:

  • Domestic abuse
  • Celebrating diversity
  • Community engagement and capacity building
  • Young people's activities
  • Activities for the elderly
  • Communication

  • Neighbourhood Partnership and Forum Meetings

What's happening about Lawrence Weston College Site?

The former Lawrence Weston College site, part of which is owned by Bristol City Council (Children and Young Peoples Services Department) and part owned by the City of Bristol College (approximately 50% each) has been laying empty for over 12 months now. The owners have been working together with other key stakeholders, including local Councillors and the Lawrence Weston Communtiy Sector Network to agree how to move forward on this site.

The City Council proposes to use it's City Design Group in conjunction with other skills to develop ideas and options for the site. These will be refined and used to guide how the site can be developed in the future. The engagement of local people in the process will help shape how the site can meet local needs and contribute to the delivery of a communtiy led plan for the wider area.

We expect this work to be carried out over the first 4 months of 2012.
